A failure of the inlet valve can cause water to overflow the ice mold and splash around the ice maker. When this happens, the spilled water will freeze around the ice maker.

You can also check that the ice maker fan in the screw conveyor assembly behind the ice maker is frozen. The fan is located in the screw conveyor assembly behind the ice maker and is thawed either manually by defrosting the unit or by placing it in forced defrosting mode.
