With the help of this simple microwave ramen recipe, you can quickly cook ramen in microwave.

One of those pantry essentials is instant ramen noodles. They are quick and simple to make, and they don’t require a lot of ingredients to taste great.

This guide will cover all these steps in detail and help you prepare the ideal noodle dish with extra nutrition and ease.

Ingredients

Aside from your dependable microwave oven, you only need two basic ingredients to make microwave ramen. You can find them in just about any grocery store or online:

  • Instant ramen noodles
  • Water

The ramen or ramen noodle soup can be of any brand. Any instant noodle is fine, but we typically buy Maruchan or Top Ramen.

You can also use chicken broth, beef broth, or vegetable broth in place of water. When I make soup or a stir-fry with ramen, I like to use broth.

To cook the ramen in the microwave, you will need a bowl. To keep your hands safe from the hot bowl, I also advise using hot mitts, oven mitts, or pot holders.

How to Cook Ramen in the Microwave

As I’ve mentioned a few times, this microwave ramen will take you no more than 5 minutes to make. And it’s without a doubt one of the simplest instant ramen recipes ever.

Let’s get started learning how to make microwave ramen now that that has been said!

Step 1: Prep the Noodles

The instant ramen noodles need to be carefully separated first. The process of putting them in the water and combining everything later will be simpler as a result.

Then, put the dried ramen noodles in a bowl that can be used in a microwave and is big enough to fit all the noodles and deep enough to cover the noodles in water. However, you can omit this step and just use the cup that the instant ramen noodles come in if you purchase any that do.

Step 2: Cook the Ramen

Next, add just enough water to the bowl to cover the broken noodles—generally, a cup or so will do.

The noodles should now be heated in the microwave for one minute, stirred, and then heated for an additional minute. Then, after the ramen noodles have cooked for a further minute, you should check on them to see how they’re coming along.

By the way, you can cook the ramen noodles for an additional 30 to 60 seconds, or until they are cooked to your preferred level of doneness, if you prefer yours to be more well done.

Step 3: Add the Flavor Packet

You can now carefully take the bowl out of the microwave once the microwaved ramen is cooked to your preferences.

After that, you should add the seasoning packet to the ramen and thoroughly stir the noodles to incorporate the seasoning.

Serve hot and enjoy once finished.

Tips for Making Microwave Ramen Taste Better

  • Use Broth Instead of Water: This will enhance the flavor, but be sure to use salt-free broth, especially if using the salty ramen flavor packet. Use beef, chicken, or vegetable broth as an option.
  • Add Your Own Flavorings: You can quickly transform packaged ramen by flavoring it with fresh garlic or ginger or by adding an egg for more nutrition. Cooked chicken or pork, as well as frozen vegetables like peas, carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms, are both delicious options.
  • Use Your Own Seasonings: Sauces like hoisin, soy, or oyster sauce can be stirred in to add a lot of flavor. You can add Sriracha or chili powder to your ramen if you like spicy food.
  • Use Oven Mitts: Use oven mitts to avoid burns because the microwave can be scorching hot.

How Long to Microwave Ramen?

Put 2 cups of water in a bowl that can be heated in a microwave first. After that, add the dried ramen noodles to the water.

Noodles don’t need to be fully submerged in water. The steam will cook the noodles as the water warms up.

Cook Ramen in Microwave

You don’t have to, but you can, if you’d like, put the ramen in another bowl if you’re using the instant noodles that come in a styrofoam cup. However, it might be challenging to fit enough water in the cup for a more soupy consistency if you want ramen soup.

Put a cover over the bowl. Utilize a microwave-safe cover if you want to.

Alternatively, you can wrap something in plastic or a plate that can be heated in the microwave. Make sure to leave a small venting opening if you wrap something in plastic.

You could also relish it cold! The fact that my kids adore bringing cold ramen to school for lunch may seem a little strange.
